This theme apparently has huge borders, but the screenshots doesn't show those.
It sounds like you are describing an Aurorae bug. I believe it has to do with display scaling above 1.0x. If you look closely, the original borders should show as a blurred rectangle, if blur is enabled. I am not sure, but it may have been addressed in Wayland.
