Could someone share the formatter.desktop file which ist located under /.local/share/solid/actions? Somehow I lost my backup...
An error occurred during the installation process: The installation failed with code 127 while attempting to run the command: servicemenuinstaller install /home/hung/.local/share/servicemenu-download/FormatUSB.desktop The returned output was: /usr/bin/servicemenuinstaller: error while loading shared libraries: libpackagekitqt5.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Could you please help me solve this? I am using Manjaro KDE, trying to install through Dolphine service
Hi, I see the option under "Actions" when I right click the USB drive but I can't see it in Device Notifier. Running Manjaro KDE, I checked and yes I have the desktop file you mentioned in your previous comments under /.local/share/solid/actions
hi skeleton - any chance you could send me the link to the formatter.desktop file too? i also cannot get the the "Format USB" menu option to show up in Device Notifier. sysinfo: Kubuntu 19.10, Plasma v5.16.5, KDE Frameworks v5.62.0
I found the cause of the problem: The menu does not appear because the folder in which the notifier's actions reside does not exist by default. I will update the add-on soon, but in the meantime to solve this problem, you can manually create the necessary folders with the command: "mkdir -p ~/.local/share/solid/actions/", and then click again on the "format usb" button in the dolphin menu (it may also be necessary to logout and login), this will automatically create the .desktop file.
Great tool, very handy!! Anyway, somehow I do not get the "Format USB" option in the device notifier. I'm a bit confused about the instruction to press the button in the dolphin menu... Do you mean the context menu from dolphin?? Thx
Thanks. to show the menu inside the device notifier, you need to click at least once on the button that appears in the dolphin drop-down menu. this: https://i.imgur.com/JPF2clh.png Once this is done, you should be able to view the new option in the notifier menu. if it doesn't appear, go to: ~/.local/share/solid/actions/ , and tell me if you have a file called Formatter.desktop. if it is present, then the problem concerns plasma5 which does not update the available options(it happened to me once).
Nope, there is no Formatter.desktop on my system
I sent you a private message with the link of the "formatter.desktop" once inserted in the "~/.local/share/solid/actions/" folder the menu should appear. however it is strange that it does not work ... just a question: Is the button to open minstick from dolphin working properly?
Great! Now the "format usb" option is available in the notifier menu! Thanks a lot for helping!! Tom
why does some of our systems not have a "formatter.desktop" file ? I do not and I have the same issue with no contect menu for "format usb"
