Description: This scenario simplifies menu navigation. Select the menu with 'Alt '. For example 'Alt F' is usually the accelerator for the 'File' menu.
Select a menu option with the letter of the alphabet underscored in the option you require. For example, in the 'File' menu, there is usually a print option with the P underscored, like 'Print'. To select File/Print in this example, you would say 'Alt F', then 'P'.
To activate the selection, say 'Enter', which sends the Enter key to the application.
The directions 'Up', 'Down', 'Left' and 'Right' allow you to navigate to options with no accelerator and to open and close submenus.
There are two Training texts. 'Commands' includes all the letters of the alphabet prefixed by 'Alt'. The text 'No Prefix' includes all the letters of the alphabet with no prefix.
This scenario has been tested using the standard US English keyboard and the VoxForge static model. I have trouble getting the static model to recognise my pronunciation of 'Alt', so testing with that model has been less than I would like. It works fine with my user generated model. It has been suggested to me that the recognition problem could be overcome by training the static model.
YOU can help to improve the static model by donating voice samples to VoxForge, at http://www.voxforge.org/home. VoxForge is building publicly-available speech models and depends upon public donations of voice samples to improve the model. Please go to their web page and follow the links to 'Submit Speech Using Computer'. All you need are a microphone and Java enabled on your browser: there are helpful links if you have any trouble.
