It doesn,t work for me I get the following error Traceback (most recent call last): File "/home/robin/.kde/share/apps/amarok/scripts/lastfm-similar/lastfm-similar.py", line 6, in <module> import pydcop ImportError: No module named pydcop i'm running amarok 1.4.10 (Using KDE 3.5.10) under Ubuntu 8.10
I am having the same error. Using Amarok 1.4.10 on ubuntu 8.10 (Gnome)
Disregard my previous comment. You need to install the package python-dcop.
Hi, I really like your script. It's much more useful than those "Now Listening to..."-scripts. I dont know how to do it, so i am asking you: Could you make it work similar to the "suggested songs" from amarok? By that i mean to give it that repopulate function. I think the algorithm of the amarok's suggestions should be replaced by yours. I don't like the result of the original suggested songs either. Is it tweakable? (set max. number of songs to add ?) Anyway thanks a lot. http://www.lastfm.de/user/mrjamesbond007

Amarok's built in "suggested tracks" works differently. This script is a result of my frustration with poor results from Amarok's built in "suggested" playlist. Amarok's builtin playlist finds tracks by similar *artists*. This script uses the *similar tracks* chart. The results are very different. For example, if I am listening to "Buddy Holly" by Weezer, then if I want to add tracks from this chart: http://www.last.fm/music/Weezer/_/Buddy+Holly/+similar This script does that for me. If you don't like it, fine, don't use it :)
It's a smart playlist called 'Suggested Songs'. It works like this: you start playing a song, then load the Suggested Songs playlist, and it populates the playlist with songs selected from last.fm. By the way. Amarok had this *way* before crappy iTunes.
