To use this, you'll need burg, an updated version of grub 2.
There are two versions, one with text and one without text.
Here is how to instal BURG:
Add ppa:bean123ch/burg to software sources
sudo apt-get install burg burg-themes
Also check out the wiki for some in depth information: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Burg
To use this theme:
Extract the tarball to /boot/burg/themes
sudo update-burg
While booting in the grub sereen, press 't'
In the theme selection menu, select radiance or Radiance Text.
If you select radiance text, I recommend editing /boot/burg/burg.cfg and making the menu entry names short for better presentation

ok, i have instaled it, but ot doenst work :(
doesnt work. How to instal on lucid?
Hi, first very cool theme. But the edges of the icon look a little bit cut out. Especially for the windows icon. It is because of the background? In sora theme they look sharper.
I've add this theme to burg-themes 20100322, thanks a lot for the great work by shafin. BTW, I make the following modification to the theme: * As it shares icons with sora, I move them to themes/icons directory, and use this in theme to include it: include ../icons/hover * In style, add - before section name. - means remove existing section before adding new setting, while default behavior is to merge. This would cause problem when you switch to other theme and switch back. * In style of radiancetext, text color shouldn't be set to "white:white" otherwise you can't see the text in theme selection menu. This color should be set in template_menuitem section in theme file.
Try the latest burg-themes 2010.04.25, the icons have been added.
daas88, your arch icon looks better than current one. BTW, can you find a larger one ?
Thanks daas88, it's perfect. I'd change the arch linux icon in the next burg-themes package.
i did all the things u have directed. even ran the burg-emu but even in that the theme is not running. there is something wrong with your explanation. there are pop ups while installing burg. tell us what to do in them. which ones to tick. also explain in detail. hope u do it asap. thanks! P.S.: though its a very nice theme!
Please visit the wiki here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Burg. It has a detailed explanation of how burg works, and I hope you'll find a solution to your problem there. The problem you are reporting is probably due to an error in configuration. Can you please check /boot/burg/burg.cfg and manually change the theme there?
thanks for replying. i got it figured out myself though. anyone having problem with installing burg can go to this link and follow the steps. http://code.google.com/p/burg/wiki/InstallUbuntu the basic mistake we normally do is not following the last step i.e. install-burg "hd0" hope it helps!
how can I change the resolution??? I edited the /etc/default/grub and nothing happened :(
its burg'd, so edit etc/default/burg instead :), and don't forget to run update-burg afterwards.
nop nothing happends
Then edit plain old /boot/burg/burg.cfg. In this case, no update-burg is needed, and actually you'll need to repeat the hack after each burg-update.
finally work fine to me :) thank you very much :D
how can I change de resolution???
This instalation notes misses some steps to realy instal and configure burg to use this theme. there is a lot more to do it! You must to install burg themes, and others burg features to work, editing a burg configuration, and set the burg the new boot manager. Please, update the Instalation instructions! I had problems before to fix the wrong instalation.
