you know, before you post there are huge freakin' letters stating how all posts must be in english... good post or not. maybe we should have that sentence in multiple languages because it obviously doesn't work. if anything else at least put a english paragraph in there stating what you just said in your native tounge.
We never said it was the language of the universe. It just happens to be a language a lot of people know, and its nice for users on an international site to be able to understand what people post. :-)
English happens to be my first language, but if this site was in another language, I'd at least make an effort to translate my posts. "When in Rome, do as the Romans do." :-p
Actually, I suspect that the real problem is that the maintainers of the site generally remove any content which is clearly racist, pornographic, or advertising :). The problem is, it is only possible to identify such content in, say, the description of the artwork, if one of the maintainers knows the language in question fairly well. While I'm sure that some among them knows more than one language, they can't possibly know every language. English, on the other hand, is probably a language which they all know at least somewhat. Thus they reserve the right to remove anything which is not in English just in case it turns out to be problematic.
Of course, the number of "English to ???" translation options on Babelfish (now world.altavista.com) probably doesn't hurt either. Requiring people to post in the most widely _translated from_ language seems like a good idea, at least to me.
"the english" what the hell does that mean. Nice attempt at an insult! Actually it's kind of funny the 90% of all countries are taught english whether it is their native language or not.(I wonder why?) So stop proving your races ignorence and FOLLOW THE RULES!!!!
Answering the question with regard to supremacy of the English language and ignorance!
language: to say English does not mean that you go to be able to go in any place of the world and to say its language, learns that when you go the house of a person, you if it molds to the customs of there! 90% of the world are not obliged to speak English! one remembers that as well as he was the Latin, Spanish and French the English will have its end! one remembers that 1/6 of the population of the globe say Chinese! this is the language of the future!
ignorance: ignorant is that one that finds to be over the others, either for financial, social or religious condition! all the human beings are equal between itself and ignorant he is that one that does not obtain to coexist the differences!
You to only be knowing:) I am Brazilian and speak Portuguese, French, Spanish and the English is being the last one to be learned! Not had to the fact of being taught in 90% of the world but for commercial imposition! he learns other languages and he expands its horizon my expensive one:)
wow... three languages... great... so how does that benefit the community when not everyone has the same ability as you? secondly is if you really understand those languages why is it you _FAILED_ to post your comment/upload in english? obviously your intellectual capacity for common sense wasn't so lucky when you inherited your 'ability' to speak multiple languages. and by the looks of things your capacity for english isn't so great either - so my feeling is that you really don't speak/understand other languages as well as you say you do. just because i say i 'know' fortran programming doesn't mean i've actually programmed in it or know anything about it.
you already stopped pra thinking that it is a tremendous luggage without handle? it goes to full another face!

I say 3 languages and understand 5 others! I make as expensive colleague of community!
