It works also with Beryl. Just download last version of screenlets:
http://www.ryxperience.com/storage/screenlets-0.0.6.tar.bz2
Decompress where you want. First time cd to the directory where you decompressed the file and enter screenlets directory, run:
./screenletsd.py start
and add the control screenlet with:
./add-screenlet.py Control
Next times you will only need to run screenletsd.py start (you can create a script with the command and configure session to run it at startup).

excellent idea with the logo ubuntu, can be also for kubuntu, but more the damage I do not have beryl.
