Description: WinBAR is a SuperKaramba Theme similar to the task bar of Windows XP. Is based on the TNTBar ( http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=6618 ). Note that it contains images ripped from a Windows XP OS, so maybe these images are protected by copyrights.Last changelog:
20-june-2003 Relased Version 0.0.1 (First and Last version of this theme).
Hi, I have a small business building computers. I want to make a recovery cd, and some of my customers don't want to learn Linux. I came accross your bar, and it seems great. A few questions.
Is there anyway to change the windows logo, I don't want to break copyrights?
Is there any good Linux software for gui recovery?
With that software, can I get it to always point to a certain image file?
Thanks

Hi,
Here two proposals:
When you click on the 'start'-button the menu appers at the position you clicked.
I think it would be better if the menu appers always at the same position like the 'real' K-menu.
When you click again on the 'start'-button, the menu appears again. I think it would be better if the menu would disappear...
Please keep on working on this theme I really like it!

hi, i've had a same problem, but it can be fixed easy
the start menu popup can be fixed using Edit->Edit Theam (Ctrl+E), then just specify a new location for kicker:
... ONCLICK='dcop kicker kicker popupKMenu 0,505'
the "0,505" is the location of kicker, if you have 1600x1024 resolution set.
Thanks for the help, one downside though , with the 0,505 settings it pops over the start button. If you use something like
CLICKAREA X=1 Y=2 W=104 H=30 ONCLICK="dcop kicker kicker popupKMenu 0.393,0"
0=x position from left
393=y position from top
These are my settings for 1024X768, you may have to tweak them
Will there be any updates for WinBar in the future? I'm not programmer, but would like to see this being developed further to be more XP like.
You've got a great theme started here for all newbies, why not take it a little further. Update the taskbar a little (doesn't show all the windows opened) or if possible make it so that it could group similar windows together.
Looking forward to see any further developments.
Hi, just came across this one. It is good to know that someone has made a "skin" for my tntbar.
>Will there be any updates for WinBar in the future?
I haven't touched tntbar for a while now, but I am thinking of making it a bit better. All I need is more time to play with it.... Can't promise you anything, but I will have updates for tntbar, and updating WinBar should be an easy task.
This is a nice theme. I love how easy it is to make kde look like my other desktops because you sure as hell can't make winXP look like anything else. At lease w/ this I can have some consistancy. The one thing I would like to see added is some visual feedback when clicking a task (ie. button depressed). Also is it possible to know what task has the focus?
I do like eye candy, and I can see why people like the way XP looks and / or OS X look and maybe why they might want to duplicate that look in a real OS. However, I would prefer someone concentrate their talents in making something new and different so I have more things to choose from, since I have no talent to do this kind of thing myself.
Hey, it's really nice. Espesially combined with WinXP win deco + styly + gtk theme (can be found somwhere here)
Could you please the one for silver theme of XP?
Are'nt you kind of being a hypocrite by having a wallpaper that pretty much says "windows sucks" and then leeching off them a design idea? If windows really sucks (which it does) you don't need thier crappy ideas. This only gives linux a bad name.
I don't understand what's so difficult about understanding this.
Disliking how Windows runs != disliking how Windows LOOKS. Therefore, no hypocrisy here.
Not to mention maybe he just did it for fun to see if he could.
Still, theres a big fat Windows logo on the wallpaper, which can be found on the launcher too. Shoulden't the logo itself stand for the suckiness that is windows? Besides, we need to be coming up with new ideas, not leeching off other others. Progress.
Why can't it be "I don't like the way Bill Gates runs his company"?
It's the reason I switched to Linux and is probably the same reason for others as well.
Thanks. I tryed your correction and I found that it isn't the same for all the resolutions. For my resolution (1280x1024) the code is:
CLICKAREA X=1 Y=2 W=104 H=30 ONCLICK="dcop kicker kicker popupKMenu 0,380"
I changed your code:
CLICKAREA X=4 Y=6 W=83 H=25 ONCLICK="dcop kicker kicker popupKMenu 0"
To this:
CLICKAREA X=4 Y=6 W=83 H=25 ONCLICK="dcop kicker kicker popupKMenu 0,173"
That way the menu pops out at the same place each time, horizontally. Not sure if this would be the same for all resolutions (I run 1024x768), but if you just experimented a bit, you could find out and see.
Now, if a way could be found to incorporate auto-hide, I'd say your theme would be fully complete :)

i think i'll never use it, but i found it quite funny :) and it works like a charm. Nice work :)
the bar doesn't work correctly. there is just the bar, but nothing else - no icons, no clock and no tray! What can I do?
OK, well I couldn't find the wallpaper. Could someone leave a link for it. Thanks in advance.
Here is the link: http://troumad.free.fr/Linux/tux_drink2.jpg But I still have the problem, that there are no tasks, no clock and no quickstart-icons!
