Looks like it's been a couple years since anyone commented on this. Anyone know if/how well this works with Jaunty? Anyone know of a PPA or .deb of this for 64-bit?

hi, the theme give me a problem with the gnome panel, when i change it the gnome panel crashes.does anyone know what it is? thanks

droetker

Same here, Ubuntu 7.04, gnome-panel crashes with a segfault. everything else seems to work. What distro are you using?

quirt33

Can you make a theme for it that's a EXACT Tiger clonE????????

pato

I'm glad to see people developing GTK engines, specially when are cairo based :-)). I'm very happy to use this amazing theme, and my comments below are not "but"s - just suggestions: IMHO, some widget borders are too blurry and hard (buttons for instance) compared with other which are smooth and calm... (list headers for instance). I like slick and calm looks. There is room for improvement at scrollbars as well.

Great theme! Im going to install this when I have the time. A few pointers though. Even though the buttons are meant to be round, a version with a bit more squared button's would be nice. Im not talking about the 'OK' and 'Cancel' buttons, Im talking about the buttons in nautilus for example. And a question ; I can't get eg. the volume-applet to use the OS X icon. Instead I have the tango one there. What to do ? :) Thanks for the effort!

I'm holding my breath for the next release.... this is the most beautiful theme I ever saw!

Once you install this and it crashes your panels, how do you go about fixing things? In fact, how do you use your computer in the first place? You might want to remove this theme until it is working. Alpha quality software? It's not even to that point yet. Why did you even consider releasing this for download?

nocturn

Take it easy. He clearly labelled it alpha, so it might crash under any circumstances that are not identical to his computer. The cause of the crash is the menu applet (Applications, Places, System) which the author is not using so he is not experiencing this crash. I'm glad he released it and I hope it will become stable soon as it will be my default theme when that happens.

A question. Since this engine is based off Clearlooks (which I`m using right now). Why does this engine crash when you have the menubar applet enabled if the clearlooks one doesn`t (a proof is that Ubuntu uses a clearlook based engine as it`s default theme and they have the menubar applet enabled by default and they don`t have those crashes, another is that the default gnome uses clearlooks as it`s default theme and the menubar applet is also on by default there and no crashes neither)?

nocturn

I suspect it is rather heavy modified, and because zammi uses the GTK hack, he may not have tested with the normal panels.

How about being constructive and telling the author what programs have crashed, whats your system setup, etc? Dont be a prick. If you cant help, dont mess with it.

Hi! I've been playing around with your Engine and I think it's extremely nice, however, I've found a couple of issues: In Nautilus: If you have the text at the left of the buttons, like this: Back < - There's an ellipse of what looks like a contour when you hover your mouse over the Back button. Notebook Control: Pop gedit up and see how the Tabs are rendered. Firefox: Open Bookmarks->Organize bookmarks. The menus seem to render a couple of pixels higher than they should. Menus: If you don't have that Gtk hack, Window Decorations above Menus above Toolbars are quite ugly because the Toolbars are rendered to blend with the Window Decoration, but it happens that above them, there's a Menu. May be you should handle these two possibilities separately and decide the best blend. Gnome Panel (Personal Opinion): The buttons simply have no spaces between each other and are way too squared :) Appart from that, it's great! Thank you!

nocturn

What font is that? I really like it!

MarineForce

Bro how did you get the 'nautilus, edit, bookmarks' and so on... on your top bar? I know how to do that in KDE but not in Gnome :(. So I'll be glad if you help me out ;). Cya !

nocturn

It's a GTK hack, you have to follow the link to Ubuntuforums, they tell you what to do.

nocturn

I love it but it makes my gnome-panel crash (I tried some apps for the look while ignoring the crashes). I hope for newer versions soon! Just another note, the compile puts everyting in /usr/local, while my distro looks in /usr. I have Ubuntu Dapper and Edgy.

nocturn

Sorry, just noticed the /usr option to configure. But the crash remains

i like it! good job!

Hey, looks like an awesome port of Aqua. I like the fact dialog windows have stripped background. Another thing you should try to do is making toolbar buttons wider, I don't if this is possible to make on the engine, or whatever... but at least in GTK+ theme files I was unable to simulate that. Keep up!

agentdunken

Any way you can make the scrollbar bar thing be aqua blue? And anyway to make the scrollbar buttons turn aqua blue when you press them?

mejogid

Just out of interest, do you have any macs on hand to work from? If not I'd be happy to send you screenshots of whatever obsucre widget you need. Keep it up.

BaQs

First of all, this engine is a very good job! I don't know how to use it, do I have to modify a special theme, or is there a theme which uses your engine ?

agentdunken

This theme is just down right beautiful. Great work. Nice to see someone trying to make a real Mac Aqua interface. Please, don't be like the other guys and change somethings in it, keep it as close as possible to the real Mac Aqua interface theme :)

acornejo

WOW.I have never used a mac, but I always like to try cairo gtk engines. Your work is awesome. I hope to see a stable version soon. There is a consisntent crash when using the gnome-panel menu (click on the applications menu). Also, the rendering of the tabs is quite impressive, very clean, however with some apps (try opening tabs in gnome-terminal) the rendering is incorrect. Keep working.
